Regulation of Unfair Contract Terms in Central and Eastern European Countries

The paper summarizes results of a comparison unfair clause legislation in the Central and Eastern European countries. In introductory part, development regulation terms, sources inspiration as well different approaches traditional civil law countries are described. Subsequently, regulations Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Serbia Croatia compared. contemporary is based on minimum standards Council Directive 93/13/EEC 5 April 1993 Unfair Terms Consumer Contracts. Nevertheless, scope protection varies its effects particular states (e.g. applicability, nature number prohibited clauses). increasing importance public authority enforcement evident. compared, against terms not limited only to consumer contracts, but it applies extent some others well.
